Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer was pulled from the net 22 minutes into a potentially critical game on Sunday night. He allowed three goals on 10 shots against the New Jersey Devils. It has been that kind of month.

He has not won very often, lately. Reimer helped the Leafs reach the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade last season, and has sometimes been lauded as a hero for the work he has done behind a leaky Toronto defence.

But this has been a difficult time. Reimer has won only once in eight appearances during the month of March, as the Leafs straddle the line that divides teams bound for the post-season from teams bound for somewhere else. The Leafs, for the moment, seem headed somewhere else.
